How To Make Nail Stickers With Cricut?

Here’s how anyone can create stickers from scratch with Cricut.

Tools Required Beforehand

Here is the list of things you will need during the project:

  • Cutting machine
  • Permanent adhesive-backed vinyl
  • Weeding tools.
  • Transparent vinyl transfer tape
  • A cutting mat
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers or weeding spatula
  • Nail Polish topcoat
  • A rule
  • Painted nails

Now, let's move to design.

Make Your Design

First of all, measure your nails properly with a ruler to get an idea of how large you should make your stickers. Place the ruler at the base of your nails and then measure the nail length and width in millimeters to take the maximum sticker size. Now, measure your fingernails and write down the measurement to make the right-sized stickers with the Cricut.

When you measure, leave a bit of space on the sides to prevent the vinyl sticker from touching the side skin of your nail. If you use very detailed stickers, try to fit them properly on your nail where you want them.

Design Your Nail Stickers

Picking a design for the nail stickers is an important task in the design process. With the Cricut Design Space, you can select a pre-made design or create one yourself. When you have your design, you will have to use the measurements of your nails. It will help you manage the size of the stickers you are creating.

Also, resize the oversized images to make them fit on your nail. Try to use simple images, as the complicated images may not fit on your nails. You can also mirror the design for the other hand nails. If you want, you can use the "Flip" button to make a reflection of all designs for your hand.

Apply A Nail Polish Base Coat

You may need to paint your nails before making a design and cutting stickers. It's good to apply nail polish a few hours before using the stickers so that it can dry better. On the other hand, if the nail paint doesn't dry, your decal/sticker will float on the nail polish, making it dry.

Remove The Excess Vinyl From The Decals/Stickers

It may be tricky to remove the excess vinyl from stickers. If you don't do it correctly, you can damage your sticker. The right way to remove excess vinyl is by using a weeding tool. This tool is designed to remove small pieces of vinyl accurately without damaging the material.

To use the weeding tool, put the tip under the edge of the vinyl and then move it away. After removing the excess vinyl, you can go ahead to apply the sticker to your nails.

Put The Stickers On Your Nails

To put stickers on your nails properly, ensure it settles in place, and it's important to follow certain steps. If you're using adhesive vinyl, you can peel the stickers and then put them on your nails. If the vinyl is not adhesive, you should use a tiny dab of nail glue or vinyl adhesive to adjust the stickers in place.

Then, carefully pick your stickers with tweezers and hold them with the nails with one hand. After that, fit it into place and use your fingers to put it down smoothly to cover your nails.

Give Final touch

In the last step, you need to apply one or two coats of clear nail polish to your nails and make the stickers seal and be long-lasting. It will give your stickers a professional look. But beware of using a high-quality clear topcoat polish. Avoid using cheap products as they may not provide the same results.

Usually, the nail art you seal with a clear top-quality coat will stay for 3-4 days before getting faded. It will also depend on the type of design you are using and how you set it on your nails. If you really want it to last longer, using a clear topcoat is the best way to go.

Conclusion

It was fun to learn how to make nail stickers with Cricut. Nail art is a deadly combination of fun and sophistication. You can create them quickly and easily. Besides this, you can also use adhesive foil sheets and some other Cricut materials for nail art. I hope you like it. Try it and see how amazing it looks.
